Just Balances

A just weight and balance are the Lord’s (Lev 19:36)

Recently I had a conversation with a coworker.  I notice he was prejudice against the rich, much in favor of the poor but extremely critical of the rich.  I told him we ought not to be partial

for one or the other, because there are many rich people that reach that financial status through much sacrifice of long hours of work.  Others inherit their wealth from the hard work of their parents.  For this reason we should not classify all the rich people as evildoers.  I share with him that in these days, there is a great injustice being done to the rich. The injustice that is coming out from this present government, the left, Obama, the democrats and liberals.  How much unjustly they are stealing from the rich and the middle class.  My coworker not understanding what I was saying jokingly said, I love the rich more and not the poor.  I answer him the following, we being Christians is our duty to be impartial and just with everyone, rich and poor (1Tim 5:21).

After my conversation with my coworker, I meditated on this subject.  I realized that this prejudice against the rich and middle class comes from the spirits of jealousy and covetousness. These evil spirits are not only in the secular world, but also some Christians are affected throughout all denominations.  College and university students are affected thru the corrupt ideology of spreading the wealth and leveling out the plain fieldWe all want to help the poor, but not to the extreme of sinning against God.  Perhaps you think God does not love the rich.  Based on this subject I have decided to share some biblical truth with the people of God and interested minds.

If you are a believer or better said a Christian, identify yourself with JesusWe are buried with him through our water baptism.  As he was resurrected from the dead, likewise us, we are resurrected through water baptism to walk in newness of life (Rom 6:4).  Newness of life means old things are passed away and now all things are made new (2Cor 5:17).  Old things = former way of thinking and acting for example, jealousy, prejudices, hatefulness, grudges and all evil thoughts.  New things = for example, love, peace, unity, kindness and a holy mind like Jesus.  St Paul said, ‘I no longer live but Christ liveth in me’ (Gal 2:20).  And if Christ liveth in you, then is he that doeth his good will in you, and you no longer do your will but his (Phil 2:13).

This writing is for all the Church of God and people of good conscience. God is God of the rich and the poorJesus Christ is the savior of the world, this include rich and poor.  In the Bible we see many good examples of rich men doing good deeds, and God was with them.  Just to mention a few, Abraham the father of faith because of his obedience when he heard the voice of God, God prospered him (Gen 12:2-3, 13:2).  His son Isaac inherited all his riches.  Boaz was also rich in Israel (Ruth 2:1).  Joseph of Arimathae was rich and a disciple of Jesus.  He took the body of Jesus and laid it on his tomb (Mt 27:57-60).  In modern times we see names like Andrew Carnegie, John D Rockefeller (the father), who through much sacrifice and hard work made riches.  All these and many more made just riches and are worthy of admiration, yes the sun shines over the rich and poor and God does not take a dime from them.  The tenth commandment says, Thou shall not covet ……………. anything that is thy neighbor’s (Ex 20:17).  Covetousness is also related to envy of the different social classes, and many are affected by this spirit.  Covetousness leads a man to steal and kill, and if he doesn’t steals himself, he gives that power to someone else to do it for him.  In politics, he will elect a leader to do it for him.  Different interest groups go to political leaders to get what they purpose in their mind.  By the power of voting they elect corrupt leaders to get what they want.  Is written in the Bible, ‘Let him that stole steal no more; ……labour……to give to him that needeth’ (Eph 4:28).  The bible exhorts of these times, ‘for the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers (also political leaders), having itching ears.  And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turn unto fables’ (2Tim 4:3,4).  This verse also gives us a picture of our political state of affairs.

In the political arena, clearly can be seen the injustices of the democrats and Obama.  The bias they have against the rich and the middle class, a trend that have never been seen in this country.  The Bible says, Just Balances ……… (Lev 19:36).  This means if you put five pounds of flour in one side of the balance, the other side must carry the same weight.  This means equal balance on both sides.  What does this means, very simple, as people of God we cannot be bias against one class of people or another.  You cannot give your vote to corrupt leaders, political leaders that divide the social classes.   The concept of equal balance is to be applied to rich and poor.  ‘………. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again’ (Lk 6:38) and weighed, and you will be measured and weighed at the final judgmentThe following verses will help us against prejudice feelings. A false balance is abomination to the Lord; but a just weight is his delight (Prov 11:1).  ‘A just weight and balance are the Lord’s ………..’ (Prov 16:11).  ‘Te’- kel, Thou art weighed in the balances, and art found wanting’ (Dan 5:27).  Dear friend let not your kingdom be found wanting at Judgment Day, and prejudices take you to the eternal flames.  God has a plan for your life and for those who are rich.  This concept of equal balances was written by the Lord, by which he weighs our righteousness.  Is our Christian duty, without distinction of persons or social classes to love everyone, no matter what is your need or level of living.

The fathers of this country, almost all believed in God and almost all were Christian.  They put in place the fundamental laws of this country based on the Bible.  All Christians in this country should be committed to protect them with all their strength.  You cannot use false weights on the balance against one class or another.  The Bible forbids any Christian to break these fundamental rights.  If anyone breaks this biblical truth, he will also receive the same breaking at Judgment Day.  There are foundations that come from above that cannot be changed.  Corrupt leaders seek out judges and officials with a bias, to discriminate against the rich and most of the middle class (Deut 16:19).  The Bible says, Ye shall do no unrighteousness in judgment; thou shall not respect the person of the poor, nor honor the person of the mighty (rich); but in righteousness shall thou judge thy neighbor (Lev 19:15) The following verse also applies to the commandment of God, ‘Remove not the ancient landmark, which thy fathers have set (Prov 22:28) This to say do not forsake the commandment.  Just to remind you dear reader, the fathers of this nation (USA) set up this government with Biblical foundations.

In these days ungodly men are changing the government with anti Christian philosophies, like communism, socialism, and some capitalist are joining with them to gain favor.  The end of these anti Christians will be to their own demise in the eternal flames.  When Jesus came to this earth to redeem the sinners, he did not come to liberate the poor from poverty (mind you I am also poor). For he understood the problem of men is not poverty, but his Adamic nature.  For this reason he came to preach the gospel to all men of all levels of society (Mt 11:5).  It’s written in the Holy Scriptures, And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book * (Rev 22:19).
